Exemplaire sur un flan quadrangulaire et irrégulier, bien centré. Beau portrait. Usure régulière. Patine marron foncé, légèrement granuleuse

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
