Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan ovale bien centré au droit avec les grènetis visibles Portrait bien venu à la frappe mis en valeur par la patine. Joli revers de haut relief où tous les détails du temple sont visibles, légèrement décentré sur la droite. Jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

(60-46 BC)

Juba I succeeded his father Hiempsal II in 60 BC Renowned for his arrogance and cruelty, he was noticed by Cicero and then quickly became Caesar's enemy. In the civil war between Pompey and Caesar, he sided with the former. Beaten at Thapsus in 46 BC, he fled, then was killed or committed suicide. His kingdom was conquered and did not become independent again until more than twenty years later with his son, Juba II.
