Ce jeton est frappé sur un flan large laissant apparaître l’essentiel des grènetis extérieurs. On doit noter une faiblesse de frappe sur une partie des types. Le droit présente une légère patine bleutée

Commentary
Jacques De Bie dans son “Histoire métallique de la France”, Paris, 1636, décrit ce revers ainsi : “Le corps est d’une statue de Minerve dressée en pied sur un autel à l’antique, tenant en sa droite une lance drappelée aux fleurs de France, & en sa gauche, à l’appuy d’un angle de l’Autel, l’Escu en ovale mesparty de France & de Navarre, pour faire par la Figure allusion au simulachre de pallas dans troye, de la conservation duquel dependoit celle de l’Estat de Priam”.
Jacques De Bie in his “Histoire métallique de la France”, Paris, 1636, describes this reverse as follows: “The body is a statue of Minerva standing on an altar in the antique style, holding in her right hand a lance decorated with the flowers of France, and in her left hand, at the support of an angle of the altar, the shield in oval, the mespartie of France and Navarre, to make an allusion by the Figure to the simulach of Pallas in Troy, on the preservation of which depended that of the State of Priam”

MARIE DE' MEDICI
(1573-1642)
Marie de Médicis (1573-1642), daughter of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, François, married Henri IV on December 17, 1600 in Lyon. Marie was not crowned until May 13, 1610, the day before Henry IV died. Louis XIII, born on September 27, 1601, was then a minor. Marie was declared regent and Louis was crowned on October 17, 1610. On November 20, 1614, he was declared of age, but left the government to his mother, who called together the States General on October 27, 1614. When Concini, the Marshal of Ancre, was assassinated on April 24, 1617, the queen lost the regency and was exiled to Blois. She returned to grace through Richelieu in 1619. Marie de Medici rose again against her son in 1620 and took part in the day of the Dupes in November 1630 to force the king to separate from Richelieu. The king chooses the minister against his mother. She left France in 1631 never to return, took refuge in Holland and died in exile in Cologne on July 3, 1642..
