Marie-Antoinette was born in Vienna on December 2, 1755. She is the fourth daughter of Emperor Francis I and Maria Theresa of Austria. Choiseul negotiated his marriage with the Dauphin Louis. The marriage was celebrated in Versailles on May 16, 1770.
