Exemplaire sur flan épais bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait de Marc Aurèle. Usure plus prononcée au revers avec une frappe molle. Patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Buste radié et drapé de Marc Aurèle à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A2).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus” (L’empereur césar Marc Aurèle Antonin auguste).

Reverse legend : LIB AVGVST[OR TRP XV COS III]/ -|-//SC.
Reverse description : Marc Aurèle et Lucius Vérus, vêtus de la toge, assis sur une estrade faisant une distribution ; devant, Liberalitas (la Libéralité) drapée, debout à gauche tenant une tessère de la main droite et un sceptre transversal de la main gauche ; aux pieds de l’estrade, un citoyen.
Reverse translation : “Liberalitas Augustorum Tribunicia Potestate quintum decimum// Consul tertium” (La Libéralité des augustes, revêtu de la quinzième puissance tribunitienne, consul pour la troisième fois).

Augustus

Caesar from 139, wearing the consulship for 140, Marc Aurèle receives tribunician power in 147 and succeeds Antonin in 161. His personal reign is marked by the Parthian war (162-165). After the death of Lucius Verus in 169, he had to face the Germanic invasions and the plague which ravaged the Empire. Marcus Aurelius associates his son Commodus with the Empire from 175 and dies of the plague in 180 in Vienna.
