Exemplaire sur un petit flan irrégulier. Usure très importante, mais lisible et identifiable. Patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Marcien à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A’a) diadème perlé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Marcianus Pius Felix Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Marcien pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse description : Monogramme (Marcianus) dans une couronne surmontée d’une étoile.
Commentary
Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. la marque d’atelier n’est pas visible sur cet exemplaire.

Historical background
MARCIAN
(24/08/450-31/01/457)
Marcian was born in Thrace in 392. On the death of Theodosius on July 28, 450, he was chosen by Pulcheria, whom he married. He fights effectively against the Huns and refuses to pay them tribute. He convenes the Council of Chalcedon. After a peaceful reign of six years, he died in January 457.
