Historical background

MARCIA

(88 BC) Caius Marcius Censorinus

Caius Marcius Censorinus must be identified with one of the supporters of Marius, who accused him of embezzlement Sylla his return from the East. A leader of the Marianist party, he went to Rome with Marius and Cinna in 87 BC and was one of the main instigators of the massacres that followed. Faithful to the memory of Marius, Sulla he fought, but was taken prisoner at the Battle of Colline Gate in 82 BC and executed.
