Exemplaire sur un flan large et irrégulier. Très beau portrait de Marc Aurèle césar idéalisé. Revers de haut relief. Magnifique patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Tête nue de Marc Aurèle César à droite, drapé sur l’épaule gauche (A°2).
Obverse translation : “Aurelius Caesar Augusti Pii Filius Consul iterum”, (Aurèle césar auguste fils d'Antonin le pieux consul pour la deuxième fois).


Reverse legend : S|C.
Reverse description : Minerve (Pallas/Athéna) casquée et drapée debout à droite, tenant une javeline tournée vers le sol de la main droite et appuyée de la main gauche sur un bouclier posée devant elle.
Reverse translation : “Senatus Consulto”, (Par Décret du Sénat).


Portrait de Marc Aurèle légèrement barbu. Le pan de paludamentum est visible de chaque côté du buste, il tombe sur la base du cou. Émission associée aux decennalia d’Antonin le Pieux.

Marcus Aurelius, born 26 April 121, lost his father at age 9. He is the grand-son of Marcus Annius Verus, brother of Hadrian and Trajan related to, and the son of Domitia Lucilla, the half-sister of Hadrian. It receives careful Herod Atticus and Fronton as teachers education. In 135, he converted to Stoicism, source of inspiration for writing "Thoughts". After the death of Aelius, he was adopted by Antoninus and Lucius Verus, at the request of Hadrian dying. After 10 July 138, is engaged to Faustina, born in 128 or 132, and he married in 145. Caesar from 139 coated consulate in 140, Marcus Aurelius 147 receives power of the tribunes and succeeds Antonin 161.
