Deuxième pièce de 2 Euro commémorative circulante de Malte après la 2 Euro “10 ans de l’Euro” en 2009.
Première pièce d’une série de cinq 2 Euro commémoratives dédiée aux étapes majeures de l'histoire constitutionnelle maltaise.
La série débute en 2011 avec la commémoration de l'élection en 1849 des premiers représentants maltais au Conseil du gouvernement britannique de l’île. Depuis 1814 Malte était en effet une colonie britannique.
Les quatre autre pièces de 2 Euro commémoratives de la série devraient aborder les thèmes suivants:
- 2012,“1887 majorité d'élus maltais au Conseil législatif”
- 2013, “1921 Instauration du Parlement”

First coin in a series of five 2 Euro commemoratives dedicated to major milestones in Maltese constitutional history.
