Commentary


Ce jeton n’est pas référencé dans l’étude d’Alain Weil sur les jetons bimétalliques mais se trouve référencé comme tel dans le livre de Daniel Laurençot avec la mention R3.
On notera que ce jeton partage son revers avec un jeton de la série de Bourgogne, manquant à Feuardent, voir fjt_058905 , et dont le revers est interprété comme une satire du gouverneur présenté comme Mercure, le duc de Mayenne, entraînant la province figurée par un personnage portant une bourse .

MAISON DU ROI - SILVERWARE

The medieval Hôtel du Roi gave way to the Maison du Roi, comprising two branches: one civil, the other military. It was headed by a Secretary of State at the King's House. The civil house is made up of about 4,000 people headed by the Grand Chaplain, the Grand Master, the Grand Chamberlain, the First Physician, the Grand Master of Ceremonies, the Grand Esquire, etc. The service of the king's chamber included the gentlemen of the chamber, the officers of the royal wardrobe, the valets, barbers, tie-maker, hatter, doctors, etc. as well as stewards and controllers general of the silverware and small pleasures of the king.
