Pendant longtemps, le seule monnaie acceptée à Madagascar est le monnaie de 5 Francs française en argent encore appelée Piastre ou ariary par les Malgaches qui est fractionnée. La valeur Venty si korobo correspond à une demie piastre à laquelle on retranche un douzième de piastre. Soit 2,50 F - 0,416 F, soit 2,083 F arrondi pour l’usage à 2 F.
