v16_0582 - MACRINUS Tétradrachme syro-phénicien

Sur ce tétradrachme, Macrin porte le nomen de Severus. Il se place comme l'héritier de Septime Sévère et il donnera le nom d'Antoninus (Antonin de Caracalla) à son propre fils, le césar Diaduménien. Au revers, nous trouvons la mention de “Pater Patriae” (PP), père de la patrie. On peut penser que les émissions de Macrin à Tyr, de mêmes graveur et style que celles de Caracalla, les ont immédiatement suivies mais se sont interrompues très rapidement, le total des exemplaires répertoriés dans le Prieur ne dépassant pas seize pièces sur quatre types ou variantes pour Macrin à Tyr, à comparer avec plus de trois cent exemplaires répertoriés pour les différents types de Caracalla dans l’atelier.
On this tetradrachm, Macrinus bears the nomen of Severus. He places himself as the heir of Septimius Severus and he will give the name of Antoninus (Antoninus of Caracalla) to his own son, the Caesar Diadumenianus. On the reverse, we find the mention of “Pater Patriae” (PP), father of the fatherland. We can think that the issues of Macrinus in Tyre, of the same engraver and style as those of Caracalla, immediately followed them but were interrupted very quickly, the total of examples listed in the Prior not exceeding sixteen pieces on four types or variants for Macrinus in Tyre, to be compared with more than three hundred examples listed for the different types of Caracalla in the workshop
