Commentary


L’attribution à Lete en Macédoine est possible, mais pas certaine. J.-N. Svoronos attribuait ces monnaies aux Thasiens, attribution reprise par Georges Le Rider dans le guide de Thasos tandis que les auteurs du SNG Copenhague classaient ces monnaies à Lete avec un point d’interrogation.

Lete was in the territory of the Amphaxitis above Therma (Thessalonica), but the city was unimportant in ancient times and it is doubtful that it could have minted. However the city was placed on the strategic road which linked Pangea to the mines of the hinterland..
