MACEDONIA - KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA - PHILIPPE V

(221-179 BC)

Philip V ascended the throne after the death of Antigone Doson in 221 BC. He is the son of Demetrius II (239-229 BC). Having had the awkwardness of Carthage ostensibly support and alliance with Antiochus III, he was defeated by the Romans in the Consul Flaminius 197 BC to Cynoscephalae and had to leave proclaim liberty to the Greeks the following year games Isthmian. In 183 BC he founded the city of Perseis. His son Perseus succeeded him in 179 BC.
