Historical background

MACEDONIA - KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA - PHILIPPE III Arridaeus

(323-316 BC)

Coining the name and type of Philip II

Philip, son of Philip II and half-brother of Alexander, was not any reason. On the death of the conqueror and to deficiency of power in order to maintain the fiction of the unity of the Empire, he was proclaimed king, but in fact it had no power. He was assassinated at the instigation of Olympias, the mother of Alexander, in 316 BC.
