Exemplaire sur un flan très large et complet des deux côtés. Très beau portrait. Revers bien venu à la frappe de style fin. Jolie patine superficielle avec des reflets mordorés

Commentary
Ce type de tétradrachme, d’étalon attique est beaucoup plus rare que les tétradrachmes d’étalon rhodien. Dans le trésor macédonien de 1990, enfoui vers 170 avant J.-C. et qui aurait contenu une vingtaine de tétradrachmes, il y avait quatorze pièces lourdes pour dix variétés. Même coins de droit que l’exemplaire du musée de Berlin (AMNG III, p. 195, n° 2, pl. 35, n° 36).
This type of tetradrachm, of the Attic standard, is much rarer than the tetradrachms of the Rhodian standard. In the Macedonian hoard of 1990, buried around 170 BC and which is said to have contained about twenty tetradrachms, there were fourteen heavy coins for ten varieties. Same obverse dies as the copy in the Berlin Museum (AMNG III, p. 195, no. 2, pl. 35, no. 36)

Historical background
MACEDONIA - MACEDONIAN KINGDON - PERSEUS
(179-168 BC)
Perseus, the eldest son of Philip V (221-179 AC.), succeeded his father and was the last king of Macedonia. The conflict with the Macedonians was brief, but violent. The Romans invaded Macedonia and crushed Perseus at the double battle of Pydna in 168 BC. Defeated by Paul-Émile, Perseus was taken to Rome with his two sons, participated in the Triumph of his conqueror and died two years later captive in Italy (see the denarius of the gens Aemilia 10, minted in 62 BC and which commemorates this event). The change of standard from the Light Attic to the Rhodian can be explained by the presence of numerous Carian and Rhodian mercenaries in the army and the Macedonian fleet (see the pseudo-drachms of the Perea of Rhodes, buried in Sitichoro, not very far from Pydna).
