Exemplaire sur un flan très large, bien centré des deux côtés à l’usure importante, mais parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Patine gris foncé

Reverse description : Zeus aétophore, les jambes parallèles, assis à gauche sur un siège sans dossier, nu jusqu'à la ceinture, tenant un aigle posé sur sa main droite et un long sceptre bouleté de la gauche ; dans le champ à gauche, un foudre posé verticalement.

Notre exemplaire est très proche de celui du British Museum, provenant de la collection Burgon (1841) (MP. 2151a, p. 286, pl. CXXXII).

Demetrius, is the son of Antigone le Borgne who was killed at the battle of Ipsos in 301 BC. He crushed the fleet of Ptolemy at the battle of Salamis in Cyprus (The statue of the Victory of Samothrace). A great strategist, he received the nickname of Poliorcète (the besieger). King of Macedonia after the death of Cassander, in 294 BC, he was dethroned by Lysimachus and Pyrrhus and died a prisoner of Antiochus in Syria (283 BC)..
