Monnaie sur un flan bien centré. Joli revers malgré une petite faiblesse sur la tête du cheval. Beau portrait à l’usure régulière. Belle patine grise de collection avec de légers reflets dorés

Archelaus is the son of Perdiccas II (454-413 BC.) whom he succeeded. He moved his capital from Aegae to Pella. During the end of the Peloponnesian War (431-404 BC.), he maintained strict neutrality. He was a great builder and he modernized Macedonia by developing Hellenism. He was assassinated, leaving the kingdom in a succession crisis that was to last until Philip II came to power in 359 BC..
