Commentary


Ce type de bronze est attribué à l’époque des Sévères et plus particulièrement celle d’Alexandre Sévère (222-235). Le type est directement inspiré par le monnayage de Lysimaque (323-281 avant J.-C.). Trou de centrage au revers. .
This type of bronze is attributed to the Severan period and more particularly that of Alexander Severus (222-235). The type is directly inspired by the coinage of Lysimachus (323-281 BC). Centering hole on the reverse.

After the capture of Perseus at Pydna in 168 BC by Paul-Émile, Greece was separated into four republics. After Andriscus' revolt, Macedonia was heavily taxed and treated as a conquered province. Under the Empire, it became a senatorial province.
