Légère usure au droit sur les mèches, le sourcil et l’épaule, plus faible au revers et visible uniquement sur l’arbre des armoiries. Une superbe patine grise de collection recouvre cet exemplaire

Reverse description : Armes de Pierre V Guérin, cardinal de Tencin dans un écu ovale, le tout posé sur une croix à huit pointes, entouré du cordon de l’ordre, timbré de la couronne ducale, cimé d’une croix épiscopale à double croisette ; sur le tout, chapeau de cardinal à cinq pendants.


Ce jeton est frappé après le 26 août 1742, date à laquelle Pierre Guérin est créé ministre d’État.

Historical background


Christianity implanted in Lyon towards the middle of the second century by St Pothin, came from the East. The Lyon 177 Church suffers persecution of Marcus Aurelius with the martyrs of Pothin, Blandine and their companions. However, the city remains the center of the spread of Christianity in Gaul and became the seat of the Primate of the Gauls. In the sixteenth century, the spread of the Reformation key Lyonnais, near Geneva. Protestants make themselves masters of the city in 1562-1563 but the Catholic reaction is bloody at St. Bartholomew.
