Exemplaire de poids lourd. Flan irrégulier. Jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets arcs-en-ciel. Petits éclatements de flan à 9 et 10 heures résultant d'une frappe vigoureuse

Commentary

Cet exemplaire est nettement plus lourd que celui vendu dans MONNAIES V/826 (attribué à 3910 francs). Il semble qu'il s'agisse du deuxième exemplaire connu, celui décrit sous l'appellation de "grand denier" dans l'ouvrage de Poey d'Avant (n°5054) présentant en effet des cantonnements inversés au droit.

(13th-14th centuries)

Several archbishops succeeded each other at the episcopal seat of Lyon between 1270 and 1320, including Adhémar de Roussillon (1274-1282) and Pierre III de Savoie (1308-1320). Philippe IV le Bel came into possession of Lyon in 1312. He respected the coinage right of the archbishops.
