Ses armes portent d’azur, au chevron accompagné de trois étoiles, celle de la pointe couronnée, le tout d’or. Les armes de Turpin portent losangé d’or et d’azur. His arms bear azure, with a chevron accompanied by three stars, that of the crowned point, all in gold. The Turpin coat of arms bears a gold and azure lozenge. Historical background

LYON - THE INTENDANTS

The "masters of the king's requests" became in the 16th century. "departed commissioners for the execution of the king's orders" then from 1625 "intendants of justice, police and finances, departed commissioners for the execution of the king's orders". Inspectors and administrators, the intendants supervised the officers of justice, had the upper hand over public order, the troops, the subsistence. They also worked with the Comptroller General of Finance on economic issues and taxes. Each generality had an intendant. They were abolished in 1789.
