Obverse description : Écu ovale aux armes d'Antoine Grimod posé sur un cartouche enguirlandé, timbré d’un casque taré de face orné de lambrequins et soutenu par deux femmes assises.

Reverse description : Femme vêtue à l’antique (l’Aurore ?) marchant à gauche tenant de la main droite une lance ; au-dessus, entre les deux extrémités de la banderole contenant la légende, un petit cartouche chargé des deux étoiles et du croissant des armoiries des Grimod.

Commentary
Antoine Grimod est le fils de Jean-Baptiste et d’Angélique Gallien, né en 1647. Docteur en droit et avocat, il devient directeur général des fermes unies de France au grand bureau de la Douane de Lyon le 23 avril 1684. Il est aussi secrétaire du roi, maison et couronne de France. Il porte d’azur à la fasce d’or, accompagnée en chef d’un croissant d’argent, accosté de deux étoiles d’or et en pointe d’un poisson nageant d’argent.
Antoine Grimod was the son of Jean-Baptiste and Angélique Gallien, born in 1647. A doctor of law and lawyer, he became director general of the united farms of France at the Grand Bureau of the Customs of Lyon on April 23, 1684. He was also secretary to the king, house and crown of France. He wore azure with a gold fess, accompanied in chief by a silver crescent, flanked by two gold stars and in base by a silver swimming fish
