Obverse description : Écu ovale aux armes de Claude I Bronod posé sur un cartouche, timbré d’un casque taré de profil et orné de lambrequins.

Obverse translation : (Je brûle tant que j'en fais usage).

Reverse

Reverse description : Écusson ovale aux armes de la Ville, placé sur un cartouche, soutenu par les figures allégoriques debout du Rhône et de la Saône laissant échapper l’eau de leurs urnes, le tout sur une console enguirlandée.

Commentary

Revers du Consulat utilisé de 1717 à 1755 (Tricou XXVIII, variété 6). Ce coin de revers n’est pas signalé par Tricou qui ne semble pas connaître non plus de jetons en argent. Claude I Bronod est avocat au Parlement et au Conseil du roi, chargé des affaires de la ville de Lyon à Paris comme suppléant dès 1697 puis comme avocat et agent ordinaire de 1701 à 1724. Il porte d'azur au cœur enflammé d'argent au chef d'argent chargé de deux branches de laurier de sinople posées en fasce et formant couronne.
Reverse of the Consulate used from 1717 to 1755 (Tricou XXVIII, variety 6). This reverse die is not reported by Tricou, who also does not seem to know of any silver tokens. Claude I Bronod was a lawyer at the Parliament and the King's Council, responsible for the affairs of the city of Lyon in Paris as a substitute from 1697 and then as a lawyer and ordinary agent from 1701 to 1724. He bears azure with a flaming heart argent with a chief argent charged with two laurel branches vert placed in fess and forming a crown
