10ème pièce de 2 Euro commémorative circulante du Luxembourg. La dénomination exacte de la 2 Euro commémorative 2011 est le “50ème anniversaire de la désignation de son fils Jean comme «Lieutenant-Représentant» par la Grande-Duchesse Charlotte”.
Fils aîné de la grande-duchesse Charlotte, Jean de Luxembourg est nommé Lieutenant-Représentant par celle-ci le 28 avril 1961. Il succède à sa mère après l’abdication de celle-ci en 1964 et devint ainsi le huitième grand-duc de Luxembourg. En octobre 2000 il abdique à son tour en faveur de son fils aîné, qui devient le grand-duc Henri.
On retrouve donc sur la 2 Euro commémorative 2011 du Luxembourg les effigies des trois derniers souverains ayant régné.

The correct name of the 2011 commemorative 2 Euro coin is the “50th anniversary of the designation of his son Jean as “Lieutenant-Representative” by Grand Duchess Charlotte”. The eldest son of Grand Duchess Charlotte, Jean of Luxembourg was appointed Lieutenant-Representative by her on 28 April 1961. He succeeded his mother after her abdication in 1964 and thus became the eighth Grand Duke of Luxembourg. In October 2000, he abdicated in favor of his eldest son, who became Grand Duke Henri. The 2011 commemorative 2 Euro coin from Luxembourg therefore features the effigies of the last three sovereigns to have reigned.
