Historical background

LUCIUS VERUS

(07/10/138 - 03/7/161)

Caesar

Son of Aélius, Lucius Vérus, born in 130, was adopted at the same time as Marc Aurelius by Antoninus at the express request of the dying Hadrian. During the reign of his adoptive father, he remains in the shadows and does not even receive the title of Caesar. After Antoninus' death, his half-brother immediately shares power with him, except for the titles of "Pontifex Maximus" (great pontiff) and "Pater Patriæ" (father of the fatherland)..
