Exemplaire sur un flan régulier, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait. Usure plus prononcée au revers. Très jolie patine vert clair

Obverse description : Buste drapé de Lucille à droite avec un petit chignon ramené derrière la tête (L).
Obverse translation : “Lucillæ Augustæ Antonini Augusti Filia”, (À Lucille augusta fille d'Antonin auguste).

Reverse legend : VES-TA/ S|C.
Reverse description : Vesta voilée et drapée debout à gauche, tenant de la main droite un simpulum au-dessus d'un autel allumé et de la gauche le palladium.
Reverse translation : “Vesta”, (Vesta).

Commentary


Poids léger. Chevelure séparée en quatre mèches tirées en arrière et terminée par un petit chignon. Ce type n’est pas repris pour le sesterce par W. Szaivert dans le MIR 18, mais seulement pour le denier.

Augusta (161-169)

Lucille was born in 149, was married by her father Lucius Verus in 164. She may have received the title of Augusta from 161. After the death of her husband in 169, she married Pompeianus, an old senator, friend of Marcus Aurelius. When Commodus succeeded his father, he honored his sister, but Lucille plotted against him. She was exiled to Capri, and performed 182.
