Commentary
La devise “Potius mori quam fœdari” est la devise familliale des ducs de Bretagne. Dans le cas présent, elle a été utilisée par la famille de Folleville, soit Louis Jean André de Folleville (1765-1842) originaire de Morainville dans l’Eure. Conseiller au Parlement de Normandie avant la Révolution, il émigre puis rentre en France pendant le Consulat. Désigné par le roi, en 1815, pour présider le collège électoral de Lisieux, il est député du Calvados de 1815 à 1821. Cette médaille lui fut remise pour son premier mandat, soit du 22 août 1815 au 5 septembre 1816.
