Commentary

Rare variété avec deux points sous le D de LUD. Les chiffres de frappe du cuivre de l’atelier de Limoges en 1791 ne sont pas connus (“très peu” d’après Frédéric Droulers). Le deuxième point placé sous le D résulte de la circulaire de Tarbé du 12 septembre 1791 prescrivant de placer une marque distinctive dès la nomination de commissaires nouvellement nommés dans les ateliers pour contrôler les productions.
Rare variety with two dots under the D of LUD. The copper minting figures of the Limoges workshop in 1791 are not known (“very few” according to Frédéric Droulers). The second dot placed under the D results from the Tarbé circular of September 12, 1791 prescribing the placement of a distinctive mark upon the appointment of newly appointed commissioners in the workshops to control production
