Coments on the condition:
Ce double louis est frappé sur un flan assez large et légèrement irrégulier. Stries d’ajustage à 3 heures au revers. Exemplaire présentant d’anciennes traces de nettoyage dans les champs ainsi que d’infimes rayures. Tranche assez mal venue à la frappe

Commentary
Monnaie rare signalée comme non retrouvée dans les différentes éditions du Répertoire de Frédéric Droulers. Nous avons publié un autre exemplaire dans le Bulletin Numismatique n° 167 (avril 2017) appartenant à la collection Gilbert Doreau, et semblant avoir été frappé avec les mêmes carrés. D’après nos recherches en archives, 5.479 doubles louis ont été frappés en 1742 à Lyon et 14 exemplaires ont été mis en boîte. Ces monnaies furent mises en circulation suite à 6 délivrances entre le 28 août et le 18 décembre 1742.
Rare coin reported as not found in the various editions of Frédéric Droulers' Repertoire. We published another example in Bulletin Numismatique No. 167 (April 2017) belonging to the Gilbert Doreau collection, and appearing to have been struck with the same squares. According to our archival research, 5,479 double louis were struck in 1742 in Lyon and 14 examples were boxed.
