Commentary
PREVTE. DE. MR. DE. FOURCY. 1690.
The motto of Santeuil alludes to the declarations of war by the Emperor and also by France against England. It takes up the fact that the Medes, enemies of the fire-worshipping Sassanid Persians, hurled arrows at the sun to insult them. This reverse is found in 1690 with the exergue “DE. LA. 3E. PREVTE. DE. MR. DE. FOURCY. 1690”
