Cet exemplaire est plutôt une épreuve en étain du revers de la médaille de l’acquisition de Dunkerque.
Louis XIV acheta la ville de Dunkerque des Anglais par traité, signé le 27 octobre 1662. Six semaines plus tard, le roi fit son entrée dans la ville.
