Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et légèrement irrégulier. Monnaie recouverte d’une patine grise. Flan légèrement voilé

Commentary


Ce type monétaire s’inspire des spadins du duc de Lorraine frappés à Nancy. Dans le récent ouvrage de François Renard et de Gérard Giulato, ces auteurs signalent que la légende du revers est inscrite en langue vulgaire No Citei pour Toul, notre cité. Ces deniers serait la résultat d’une alliance conclue entre le duc de Lorraine Ferri IV et les habitants de Toul sous l’épiscopat d’Amédée de Genève.
This type of coin is inspired by the spadins of the Duke of Lorraine struck in Nancy. In the recent work by François Renard and Gérard Giulato, these authors point out that the legend on the reverse is inscribed in the vernacular No Citei for Toul, our city. These coins are said to be the result of an alliance concluded between the Duke of Lorraine Ferri IV and the inhabitants of Toul under the episcopate of Amédée de Genève.
