(1544-1545)

François Ier was born in Nancy on February 15, 1517 from the union of Antoine de Lorraine and Renée de Bourbon. In 1526 he was engaged to Anne of Cleves, daughter of John II of Cleves, Count of La Marck, but the marriage never took place and Anne married King Henry VIII of England, who divorced her that same year. of their marriages. François married Christine of Denmark, daughter of Christian II and Elisabeth of Austria, sister of Charles V. He received the ducal crown on June 14, 1544 after the death of his father Antoine.
