Ce demi-gros est frappé sur un flan assez large, irrégulier et présentant une pliure avec infime craquelure. Reliefs nets et monnaie frappée dans un argent de haut titre

Commentary

Monnaie de la plus grande rareté. Ce doppelvierer de Vauvillers copie le doppelvierer de Bâle. Il s’agit du second exemplaire connu après celui de la collection Morin-Pons du Musée des Beau-Arts de Lyon. La propriété de cette monnaie avait été contestée, mais par décision judiciaire elle a été restituée à son propriétaire avant de nous être confiée à la vente. Poey d’Avant classe cette monnaie en demi-gros et l’attribue à Gauthier Ier ou Gauthier II.
