(11/08/308-09/324) Valerius Licinianus Licinius

Licinius I was proclaimed august directly following the conference Carnuntum 11 November 308. In 313, after the edict of Milan, he married the half-sister of Constantine, Constantia. 316 took place the first war between Constantine and Licinius, which ended with the death of Valens and the signing of a peace between the two august. A second war broke out between Constantine and Licinius in 321, which ended in the decisive defeat of Chrysopolis 324 and the deposition of Licinius who was exiled in Thessaloniki before being executed the following year.
