Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un petit flan épais bien centré des deux côtés. Portrait tout à fait exceptionnel. Revers de haut relief. Patine verte avec des reflets métalliques. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Licinius Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant tenant une haste transversale de la main droite et un bouclier de la main gauche (F*6 bis).

Obverse translation : “Imperator Licinius Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur Licinius pieux heurux auguste).

Reverse

Reverse legend : GENIO - POP ROM/ T|F// PLG.

Reverse description : Genius (Génie) debout à gauche, coiffé du modius, le Génie porte l’himation, tenant une patère de la main droite et une corne d'abondance de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Genio Populi Romani”, (Le Génie du Peuple romain).

Commentary

Poids très lourd. Rubans de type 3. Ptéryges larges sous le paludamentum. Semble complètement inédit et non recensé. Seulement trois exemplaires signalés pour Licinius pour cette émission et l’unique exemplaire avec ce type de Buste. Prendra le n° 573 alpha dans le Supplément 3 du Bastien.
