Ernest Jean Charles, prince de Saxe, duc de Courlande (1733-1796) est le fils de Frédéric Auguste de Saxe qui fut duc de Saxe et roi de Pologne de 1733 à 1763 et de Marie Josèphe de Habsbourg. Il épousa Françoise Krazinski (1742-1796).
