Commentary
example from the Franklin medalist which highlights a plaque from the band that surrounded the temple of Athena Nike; Nike with a sandal: It was located on the south side. A Nike is represented leaning forward, perhaps to untie her sandal and walk barefoot towards the altar which was to be represented in front of her, but which is lost. This plaque is kept at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece. Medal sculpted by Charles Ross. Theoretically, the crab hallmark is supposed to indicate a fineness of 800 thousandths
