Commentary

example from the Franklin medalist which features a fresco by Michelangelo; The Creation of Adam: It is one of the nine frescoes inspired by the Book of Genesis, painted by Michelangelo on the central part of the ceiling vault of the Sistine Chapel, in the Vatican Museums in Rome, commissioned by Pope Julius II. It is the fourth story in this series of nine, preceded by The Parting of the Lands and Waters, and followed by The Creation of Eve. Although mentioned relatively early in Genesis, and therefore in the sequence of frescoes decorating the vault, The Creation of Adam was only completed by Michelangelo late, around 1511, while the execution of the central vault lasted from 1508 to 1512..

The Creation of Adam is an illustration of the biblical text from the Book of Genesis: 1, 26-27: \\\"God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.\\\"1. The work is particularly famous for the detail in which God's index finger, joining Adam's without touching it, gives life to Man 2.

It is the most famous episode of the Sistine Chapel and one of the most famous and celebrated icons of universal art, the subject of countless quotes, tributes and parodies.

Medal sculpted by Ronald Hooker.

Theoretically, the crab hallmark is supposed to indicate a fineness of 800 thousandths.
