Commentary

Ce quart de statère est du même type que celui de MONNAIES 28, n° 581 provenant d’une vente Künker (Allemagne).
L’attribution de cette série est fluctuante entre les Bituriges et les Lémovices. Encore inédit, ce type semble devoir s’intégrer dans la série 1106 du Nouvel Atlas. Naguère inconnu, des monnaies de ce type semblent apparaître sur le marché. Si cet exemplaire est lisse au droit, les monnaies de cette série ne sont pourtant pas unifaces ; le bga_288224 présente une petite tête stylisée à gauche.
Au revers, le cheval semble avoir une sorte de moustache ou de barbichette ; à moins qu’il ne s’agisse pas d’un cheval (?).
This quarter stater is of the same type as that of COINS 28, no. 581 from a Künker sale (Germany). The attribution of this series fluctuates between the Bituriges and the Lemovices. Still unpublished, this type seems to fit into series 1106 of the New Atlas. Previously unknown, coins of this type seem to be appearing on the market. Although this example is smooth on the obverse, the coins of this series are not uniface; bga_288224 has a small stylized head on the left. On the reverse, the horse seems to have a sort of moustache or goatee; unless it is not a horse (?)
