Commentary
The reverse shows Languedoc personified by a woman crowned with laurels and holding in her right hand a horn of plenty, symbol of prosperity, while she leans on a shield bearing the provincial coat of arms. A spring (the Garonne) flows peacefully beside her. The legend recalls the hoped-for pacification of the province, which was prey to the religious troubles of the Camisards.
