LANGUEDOC - COUNTY OF TOULOUSE - WILLIAM IX OF AQUITAINE

(1086-1127)

Guillaume IX (1071-1127), count of Poitiers, duke of Aquitaine and Gascony (1086-1127), seized the county of Toulouse at least twice: the first time, in 1098-1100, (cf. SCMF .4219) and the future William X was born in Toulouse in 1099 taking the county from Raymond IV of Saint-Gilles; the second time between 1119 and 1125/7 on Alphonse Jourdain, count of Toulouse (1112-1148).
