Historical background

LANGUEDOC - COUNTY OF RODEZ - HUGH II AND HUGH III

(1156-1196)

In 1096, Raymond IV de Saint-Gilles, Count of Toulouse, sold the viscountcy of Rodez to Richard de Carlat. His son Hugues I (1132-1156) succeeded him in 1132. We then have Hugues II (1156-1195) and Hugues III (1195-1196). The viscount passes to Guillaume, brother of Hugh III who dies childless in 1208.
