Monnaie sur flan bien centré éclaté à 1h. Très beau buste de Lélien ainsi qu’un superbe revers finement détaillé. Patine gris foncé

Commentary
Monnaie rarissime de la première émission de Lélien avec la titulature longue au droit. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type qui fait partie des plus grandes raretés de l’empire gaulois.

Lélien, probably governor of Lower Germania, revolts against Postumus with the help of the XXX legion stationed in Castra Vetera (Xanten). He took refuge in Cologne, where Postum came to besiege him. Lélien is defeated and assassinated. Postumus, having refused the sack of the city to his victorious troops, finds death in his turn.
