THE LEAGUE. COINAGE IN THE NAME OF HENRY III
(1589-1598)
The Leaguers who opposed the coronation of Henry IV preferred Charles, Cardinal of Bourbon and uncle of the king, but he died a prisoner of his nephew in 1590. Many workshops continued to mint in the name of the late king well after his death. dead. The coinage of Leaguers in the name of Henri III ceased when Toulouse fell into the hands of Henri IV, January 24, 1596.
