Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Usure importante, mais exemplaire lisible et identifiable. Beau portrait. Défaut de métal et de frappe au revers. Patine marron foncé

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Justinien Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A'a) ; diadème perlé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justinien perpétuel auguste).

Reverse description : M accostée d’une étoile à six rais et d’une croix grecque, surmontée d’une croisette.
Commentary
Poids léger. Césure de légende de droit inhaibtuelle. Au revers étoile en forme de sceau de Salomon. Semble surfrappé par endroit.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests. Carthage as well as Africa and part of Numidia were reconquered from the Vandals thanks to General Bélisaire. After a century of Vandal domination, Romanism once again reigned over the Mediterranean.
