Obverse description : Buste de Justinien Ier, diadémé avec pendilia, couronné et cuirassé de face, tenant le globe crucigère de la main droite et un bouclier orné d'un cavalier de la gauche (N1'a) ; diadème perlé ; dans le champ à droite, une croix.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justinien perpétuel auguste).

Reverse description : M surmontée d’une croisette.

Commentary


Poids très léger. Pendilia aux extrémités bouletées. Diadème orné. Bouclier orné d’un cavalier. Notre type de follis est frappé après l’adoption de la taille au 1/12 L. en l’an 12, nous avons deux officines. Première année de frappe pour le nouveau modèle.

JUSTINIAN I

(1/08/527-14/11/565)

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora.
