Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type sur un flan épais, ovale et irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés avec le grènetis visible au revers. Belle représentation du droit. Très joli revers. Magnifique patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Justin II et Sophie assis de face sur un double trône. Ils sont nimbés tous les deux. Justin est à droite, tenant le globe crucigère de la main droite, et elle tient le sceptre cruciforme de la main droite ; au milieu, au-dessus, une croix.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Istinus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justin perpétuel auguste).

Justin II, nephew of Justinian I, married Sophia, the niece of Theodora, in 548. They were crowned on November 20, 565. Justin deprived of reason, it was in fact Sophia who governed with the help of Narses, general-in-chief in Italy, which she ends up disgracing.
