Bel exemplaire sur un flan légèrement ovale, bien centré des deux cotés. Portrait de très beau style et agréable revers. Patine grise

Obverse description : Buste diadémé et drapé de Julia Titi à droite vu de trois quarts en avant avec le chignon ramené en arrière (L).
Obverse translation : “Iulia Imperatori Titi Augusti Filia Augusta”, (Julia fille de l’empereur Titus auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : VESTA À L’EXERGUE.
Reverse description : Vesta voilée et drapée assise à gauche, tenant le palladium de main droite et un sceptre transversal de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Vesta”, (Vesta).
Commentary
Exemplaire totalement inédit, connu uniquement en bronze. A ce sujet, voir notamment MONNAIES XXV, n°243. Monnaie absente de tous les catalogues de référence !.

Augusta
Flavia Julia Sabina Titi, born in 65, is the daughter of Titus and Marcia Furnilla. She marries her cousin Flavius Sabinus minor, son of Flavius Sabinus, himself brother of Vespasian, who died in the fire of the Capitol in 70. She receives the title of augusta under the reign of Titus. After the death of her father, her uncle Domitian falls in love with her. Her husband is executed in 84, then she will live with Domitian until his death, perhaps due to childbirth.
